My sister and I went out one night. It seemed more like January than mid-April. She had just spent a few hours weaving her long, thick hair into twenty-something teeny tiny braids. I stood her in front of the lamp post and started shooting. Soon we discovered that, since the air was so cold, her breath became visible from the light behind her.
I got to do a photo shoot last February for a wonderful family. I love seeing people interact with one another and showing love, and in the space of family I feel as if many people can truly be themselves. This young man is such a character, and I was blessed to photograph him and his family. I was also lucky enough to catch a bit of his true self on camera.
